Trying To Conceive, Pregnancy And Labor
My husband and I decided to TTC after our 2 year wedding anniversary.
Getting pregnant was the easy part for me. It only took about a month.
My whole pregnancy went on without a problem in sight. I didn’t even
experience the usual “morning sickness” symptoms. Four days before my due date, my contractions started….
around 6 that morning. I have to admit , I was scared, but excited none the less. I managed to handle the pain until 2 in the afternoon, then off to the hospital I went. By then I was already 10 cm. dilated, and my water was broken. I was expected to give birth shortly after that, but nothing happened, My baby just wasn’t going down. After hours of certain positions, and medicine to help her come down, it was noted that my baby’s heartbeat was getting too low. I needed to have an emergency c-section.
That was such a disappointment, I wanted so badly to have a natural childbirth. I thought that was the worst think that would happen, but no. In the operating room, while having the C-section I noticed when they took my baby out, I remember like if it was yesterday. The first words that came out of my mouth were, “She’s not breathing”, while tears rolled down my eyes. I always thought those tears would be of happiness not sorrow. Doctors told me she had meconium aspiration, (I’ll explain that later if you don’t already know=). My daughter had to stay in the NICU for two weeks while getting her lungs cleaned out,and her round of antibiotics. I was at that hospital every single day. And was so excited the day I got to finally bring her home. I thank god every day for having her in my life. I see her and can’t imagine what I would have done if she wasn’t here today. She truly is my little miracle.
