Drunk Driving
Drunk driving… oh how it angers me!!! In 2007, 12,998 people were killed nationally in alcohol related car accidents. These type of deaths will always keep happening as long as there are irresponsible people out on the roads. Just last year my husband, daughter and I were hit by a drunk driver. Luckily for us, the only major damage was done to the car. And what was the drunk driver only worried about??? His precious automobile of course. Can you believe that? He could care less about endangering my family’s life. He had a prior DUI, and that sure did not stop him from drinking and driving again, and I’m sure this time won’t make a difference either.
A couple of weeks ago, I heard on the local news about a family going back home after sending out invitations for the upcoming baptism of their children when a drunk driver ran a stop sign, stricking their car. The impact caused the car to spin out of control into a dirt field, where it struck two concrete barriers and a fire hydrant, then split in half. Four of the five family member died on impact, including a 28 year old mom, a 7 year old boy, a 6 year old boy, and a 10 month baby girl. It saddens me to know that the lives of innocent people were cut short by a drunk driver. Now a father is left to grieve the death of his family members.
Today, while driving home, I noticed a car in front of me swerving from side to side. When I took a closer look , I saw it was a couple of young girls, driving erratically, singing , just not paying attention to the road. They came so close to hitting a car driving past them. So I decided to call the cops, I gave them the car description and location, as well as their license plate number. Hopefully they got pulled over, at least to make sure they weren’t drinking and driving. It’s amazing how many people run around so carelessly…it’s definitely up to us to take care of ourselves and our families.
